Yacht Club de Monaco and UBS have formalised renewal of their collaboration that builds on a long-standing strategic partnership. Bernard d’Alessandri, YCM Managing Director and General Secretary, and Alejandro Velez, Country Head UBS Monaco, Spain and Portugal, signed an agreement making UBS the YCM’s exclusive wealth management partner.
UBS is a global leader in wealth management, and this strategic alliance seals a shared vision based on excellence, innovation and an international outlook. UBS will continue to support Yacht Club de Monaco and its 2,500 members in events and initiatives related to yachting, modern and traditional sailing, and innovation.
UBS and Yacht Club de Monaco have maintained a close collaboration for over three decades. Since the 1990s, Credit Suisse, now part of the UBS Group, has established itself as a lead partner of YCM, a process that started as title sponsor of the Primo Cup-Trophée Credit Suisse which has become a reference for one design racing in the Mediterranean.
In 2000, their partnership stepped up a gear for the America’s Cup, to mark the return of this prestigious competition to Europe, confirming their joint commitment to drive top flight competitive sailing. Together the two institutions launched the YCM Awards-Trophée UBS, which rewards YCM racing members’ results.
In the wake of the Primo Cup, UBS is committed to supporting YCM’s flagship events with a 360° vision as evidenced by the diversity of meetings with which they are associated:
Under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II, Yacht Club de Monaco has two missions: to offer exclusive services and facilities to its members as a private Club, alongside a public service remit to promote the Principality internationally. In formalising this partnership with UBS, it confirms its commitment to the yachting sector’s development. “We would like to thank UBS and its teams for their loyalty. This collaboration demonstrates our shared desire to continually raise standards of excellence in the yachting world,” explains YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.
As the exclusive wealth management partner at YCM, UBS is associated with a rich and varied programme of international events, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development and innovation in the yachting field. “Renewing our partnership offers prospects to develop for both Yacht Club de Monaco and UBS Monaco. We are pleased to be in a position to continue supporting Yacht Club de Monaco members in pursuing their passion. For my part, we are proud to have this partnership as part of UBS’s history”, said Alejandro Velez, Country Head UBS Monaco, Spain and Italy. Present in more than 56 countries, UBS, the world’s leading wealth management firm with over USD 5 trillion under management, provides its expertise and tailored services to private clients and institutions.
The partnership reflects a shared ambition to look ahead to the future and promote the Principality as part of its umbrella ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ initiative that promotes excellence at sea.
