Weather conditions look favourable for the first hours of racing with a north-north-east wind giving the fleet good headway upwind. Variable conditions are forecast thereafter with a potential boost from the Mistral in the Strait of Bonifacio where tacticians must be on top of their game to choose the best option, while maintaining a good average speed.
While the Maxis are fighting to break the record, for other crews it is a true experience allowing them to discover offshore sailing, like the crew of Le Joy led by Loïc Pompée, a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco. A seasoned regatta sailor, he shares his experience here with 5 young people from the Sports Section aged 13 to 17, who are also supervised by Thierry Leret, Race Director of the Y.C.M. For a few years now, the Club has been dedicated to passing on the passion for the sea to the younger generation.
