Smeralda 888 – Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda | 8-10 April 2022
Sunday 10th April 2022. Nine Smeralda 888 teams turned out for the Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda that also counts toward the class’s Gold Cup. The winner of the YCM Awards in the Smeralda 888 category won this event, Francesco Vauban on Botta Dritta. Also competing on the race area in Alassio were the Swiss from Société Nautique de Genève in 2nd ahead of YCM’s Timofey Sukhotin (Beda) in 3rd.
Seven races were completed in variable often breezy 6-19 knot conditions, providing a tough regatta for the fleet that comprised professionals and amateurs, like the young sailors from YCM’s Sports Section who showed great fighting spirit throughout the event.
Next meeting on the agenda is the Coupe de l’Hippocampe at Saint-Tropez 6-8 May.
