Saturday 9 May 2026. Alegre and Andres Soriano launched their TP52 Super Series season in Puerto Portals. For this first stage of the 2026 circuit held 4-9 May, the owner, a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, and his crew were competing in one of the most competitive fleets in one design racing. Against a field of 14 teams representing 11 nations, Alegre finished 13th after an intense week in Palma Bay.
The level of competition on the TP52 circuit continues to rise. From the first races gaps were minimal between boats, the fleet gathered in Puerto Portals illustrating to perfection the intensity in this class. Between former winners of the circuit, experienced crews and well-honed newcomers, it was a constant battle to stay ahead of rivals in races from start to finish.
Palma Bay once again served up a wide variety of conditions, with the first races held in a light unstable breeze forcing crews to constantly adjust their trajectories and positioning. Even more difficult days lay ahead with erratic thermals, cloud cover disturbing pressure and an easterly wind difficult to anticipate. Finally, the last day saw a strong offshore breeze, topping 25 knots at times, pushing boats and crews to their limits.
Beyond the ranking, this first stage confirmed the Alegre team’s long-term commitment to the TP52 Super Series circuit. Season after season, Andres Soriano and his crew continue to develop in one of the most competitive championships on the international circuit.
The 2026 season of the TP52 Super Series has only just begun. After Puerto Portals, crews head to Porto Cervo in Sardinia for the 15-20 June Rolex TP52 World Championship. For Alegre, this first stage has already set the tone for the season that looks set to be an exciting but tough one. In a fleet where the level keeps going up, Alegre and Andres Soriano launched their TP52 Super Series season with the aim being to stay in contention with the circuit’s top contenders.
