Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2026: the AI Class, when artificial intelligence transforms navigation

Organised by the Yacht Club of Monaco, with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, UBS, BMW and SBM Offshore, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge has, for more than a decade, established itself as an open-air laboratory dedicated to sustainable maritime innovation. Its 13th edition, scheduled from 8 to 11 July 2026, will once again highlight the growing role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the energy transition of the maritime sector.

Organised by the Yacht Club of Monaco and supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, UBS, BMW and SBM Offshore, the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge will take place from 8 to 11 July 2026 in Monaco. This edition will bring together 43 teams from around twenty countries who are all united by a common goal: to accelerate the energy transition of yachting and the maritime sector through real-world experimentation.

To mark its 18th Economic Symposium, La Belle Classe Superyachts, organised in collaboration with UBS, the Yacht Club de Monaco brought together key figures from the international yachting industry to discuss the significant economic changes that will shape the sector by 2025. As part of the ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ initiative, this dinner debate highlighted a shared conclusion: the environmental transition has become a key factor in shaping the economic models of the yachting industry. With the theme “Yachting 2035: the economic transformation of the sector in response to new environmental standards”, this edition offered forward-looking analysis of structural changes across the industry. Against a backdrop of accelerating demographic, geopolitical, technological and financial shifts, the discussions emphasised the need for the sector to anticipate changes that are now firmly embedded in the long term.

True to its ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, Yacht Club de Monaco kicks off a new season focused on knowledge-sharing, innovation and collective commitment. In 2026, as part of its public service remit to enhance the Principality’s appeal the Club confirms its role as a focal point of activity in Port Hercule and an international platform, while reinforcing its environmental and societal responsibility commitments. Top-level sport, youth training, the sustainable transition and maritime heritage define a year of events providing an arena for exchanges to build the future of yachting.

Four days to explore, understand and transform yachting

On the occasion of the Yacht Club de Monaco’s end-of-year cocktail reception, its President, HSH Prince Albert II, announced a collaboration between Yacht Club de Monaco and The Explorers Club of New York, marking a new milestone in the Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting collective initiative. As part of this partnership, a delegation of around one hundred members from the prestigious American club, founded in 1904, will visit the Principality from 21 to 24 March 2026.

The SEA Index® participated in the first workshop of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme)’s Adapt-Pelagos project, the conclusions of which have just been published.
Organised on 18 September 2025 at the Yacht Club de Monaco by Plan Bleu, UNEP’s regional activities centre as part of its Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP), the workshop brought together experts, decision-makers and maritime sector stakeholders from the signatory countries in the Pelagos Agreement (France, Italy, Monaco). The objective was to define concrete strategies to reduce the environmental impact of maritime activities on marine mammals and fragile ecosystems in the Mediterranean.

At the end of the summer holidays, Yacht Club de Monaco sets the tone for the international yachting calendar with several flagship events at the Monaco Yacht Show underpinning its multi-faceted approach to stimulate innovation, support the sector’s growth and bring the community together. It is in this vein that the annual Winter Pop-Up, organised by the Cluster Yachting Monaco, was held 9 October to close off a very few weeks.

The theme Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity of World Maritime Day, organised by the International Maritime Organization, reflects the vital role the Ocean plays on the day Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) gathered a hundred superyacht captains and international experts for the 29th Captains’ Forum entitled Leading today ahead of tomorrow. The event, created in 2007 and organised by the YCM Captains’ Club, brought together more than 115 superyacht captains, representing a combined fleet length of 4,973 metres, and recently welcomed 14 new members.

A pivotal player on the international yachting scene, Yacht Club de Monaco again set the tone at the opening of the 34th Monaco Yacht Show. As part of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, YCM brought together 64 owners of yachts over 40m flying the YCM flag for its annual Owners Lunch. A total of 2,344 linear metres represented confirms the Club’s central role in the global yachting world.
