Dress rehearsal before the Worlds 

Optimist – Meringa Cup 18-20 June 2021

Sunday 20th June 2021. Seven Optimist sailors from the YCM’s Sports Section were on the starting line of the Meringa Cup held in Lake Garda, where a steady 8-15 knot breeze saw eight races completed.

A total of 106 youngsters were competing in the Minime (13-15 year olds) category where the level was extremely high with national teams from Thailand, Ukraine, USA, Singapore and UK. Matteo Asscher pulled off a very good 19^th place, with Noah Garcia 40^th, Namu Van der Linden 69^th, Ludovica Bonnelli 76^th, Alexandre Pompée 77^th and Alessandro Asscher 81^st.  In the Benjamin group (12-13 year olds) Alexandra Santelli impressed in 11^th.  It’s all systems go as the YCM’s Optimist group prepares for the World Championship at Lake Garda 30^th June to 10^th July.
