First UIM E1 La Belle Classe Academy by YCM class
This week Yacht Club de Monaco welcomed the first class to attend its new UIM E1 La Belle Classe Academy by YCM course, a pioneering program to train future pilots for the UIM E1 World Championship, the world’s first all-electric boat race series.
The one-of-its-kind partnership between YCM and E1 aims to identify and train new talents with the skillset to join the E1 fleet for the upcoming 2025 season. As the program takes full advantage of YCM’s facilities it provides a unique framework in which to develop the skills and techniques required to be an E1 pilot.
Five promising candidates in the first class
This historic launch saw five candidates taking part in the first intensive training session, marking the start of an exciting new adventure for the future pilots. It all took place on the Monaco race area and offered full immersion into the electric boat racing world.
The goal is simple, to find the most talented pilots whether they hail from sailing, motorsport or other disciplines, and give them an opportunity to compete in iconic coastal cities around the world during what will be the Championship’s second season.
E1 Season 2025: the future is electric
With new teams set to make their debut in 2025, this innovative academy intends to build an elite group of drivers capable of competing on the world’s most prestigious circuits. Candidates selected from this week will have a chance to race under the guidance of famous team owners like Marc Anthony, Will Smith, Virat Kohli, Steve Aoki, Rafael Nadal, Sergio Perez, and others.
