. From 20-27 April, Hyères hosted the 56th French Olympic Week that attracts the world’s elite in Olympic sailing. With over 700 sailors from 56 nations attending it is a major event on the international circuit. Conditions were particularly tough with two days of a Mistral blowing up to 32 knots. As another four-year cycle begins in the lead up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, contestants put their heart and soul into this competition. The same ambition and drive that is shared by two athletes from the Yacht Club de Monaco representing the Principality: Jérémy Moutout in ILCA 7 and Alexander Ehlen in the Men’s Formula Kite.
In a tight packed fleet Jérémy Moutout proved remarkably consistent finishing 70th overall after eight races. In Formula Kite, consistency was also at the heart of Alexander Ehlen’s approach. He had a superb start to the competition with a 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 4th place in his first races, more than holding his own against a very strong turnout in challenging conditions, to finish 19th in the overall ranking. This Olympic Week hosted for all ten Olympic classes once again confirmed its status as an event not to be missed and a showcase at the highest international Olympic level.
