The international Cape 31 fleet were in Palma for Round 5 of a season that just keeps on racking up the tension. Teams were tested to the nth degree by varied conditions during eight hard-fought races in this demanding yet spectacular format.

American victory

The American crew on Pacific Yankee emerged victorious after demonstrating their mastery of this class from the start before sealing victory on the final day against their closest rivals, Stella Maris and Kalantis. It was a close-call to the end, showing again the high level of competition that has come to define this European circuit.

Loïc Pompée in the fray

Yacht Club de Monaco was represented by Loïc Pompée aboard Terrible Joy. The team finished 11th overall in a contest dominated by the top performers of this class. Once again, this result shows how keen YCM members are to be involved in modern competitive classes and take on an experienced packed fleet, in line with the Club’s openness to new generations of one design boats.

Results confirm YCM’s commitment

It is through its members taking part in regattas like the Cape 31 that Yacht Club de Monaco pursues its goal to promote excellence and encourage its representatives to shine not only on the more classic circuits but also those of the new international classes. Results are all part of the momentum behind the Club that has become a key player in modern yachting.
