Forty-nine crews numbering a total of 200 sailors from 13 nations descended on Yacht Club Porto Rotondo in Italy which hosted the RS21 World Championship at the end of September. The atmosphere was electric as this relatively new class reached another milestone in 2025, with this its most international and competitive event to date.
The show was spectacular with a steady wind, tight starts and a compact fleet from the first tack, all the right ingredients for a World Championship.
Two Yacht Club de Monaco members battled it out, with Matteo di Maio (Era L’ora) coming 19th with three races in the top ten showcasing his potential in a strong field. Anatoli Karatchinski (Path RS) finished 23rd.
Designed to offer pleasure at the helm and trimming, the RS21 is attracting more and more fans each year, with national circuits in Europe at full capacity, a factor mirrored in the World Championship. After Croatia, Italy and Spain, Sardinia is now a must on the calendar.
