It was the first major competition and first demonstration of the potential of Terrible Joy.  The Cape 31 flying the Yacht Club de Monaco flag was competing in Palma de Mallorca from 15-19 October in the European Championship.

Facing 25 of the most experienced international teams on the circuit, Loïc Pompée and his crew quickly found their rhythm. The first races in light fickle winds tested the crew’s precision and response time, with the result that Terrible Joy more than held their own against the favourites. Thanks to a string of good tactical decisions they climbed up the provisional ranking to lie in 4th place on the eve of the final day.
A podium finish seemed within their grasp, but the last three races caused an upset with the result that Terrible Joy finished 14th. It was still a very encouraging result after all the hard work put in by this recently formed crew.

It was a solid performance, showing steady progress and above all great promise for a Monaco team on the verge of making its mark on the international stage. The goal for 2026 is to keep on improving with their sights set on the World Championship in Marseille.
