The Rolex Middle Sea Race 2025 lived up to expectations. Having set off from Valletta, Malta, on 19 October the fleet completed the legendary 606-nautical mile course round Sicily after several days of demanding racing in changeable conditions and a high level of competition.
Highlights from this article:
  • Black Jack 100 (Remon Vos / Tristan Le Brun, YCM) wins Line Honours at the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2025.
  • Another success for the black-hulled 100-ft Maxi after the Rolex Fastnet Race and 20th Palermo–Montecarlo.
  • Django Deer (Giovanni Lombardi Stronati, YCM) 1st in IRC 2.
  • K’Mena (Éric Müller, YCM) 4th in IRC Double-Handed.

YCM again in the vanguard

In the Monohull category, it was Remon Vos’s Black Jack 100 skippered by Tristan Le Brun, both from Yacht Club de Monaco, who won the Line Honours prize. They crossed the finish at 05:44 on Tuesday 21 October after 2 days 17 hours 44 minutes and 7 seconds of racing to secure the prize that had illuded them last year: a result that confirms the mastery of a 19-strong cosmopolitan crew on this 100-foot black hulled Maxi. For the Monaco boat it was another success during a remarkable season, in the wake of victories at the Rolex Fastnet Race and 20th Palermo–Montecarlo, and a new record at the Gotland Runt.
In corrected time, Black Jack 100 was 14th in IRC, 3rd in IRC 1 and 7th in ORC Overall, confirming the team’s consistency across the board. For Remon Vos, this victory in Malta is particularly sweet: “To win line honours at the Rolex Middle Sea Race is very special. It’s a great race and is a significant achievement for the crew and the boat”.

Django Deer on IRC podium

Another great performance was that of Giovanni Lombardi Stronati at the helm of Django Deer who pulled off a superb 2nd in the overall IRC ranking and won the IRC 2. Aboard the Italian Botin 52, a regular at major Mediterranean regattas, he had an exemplary race combining speed and tactical finesse around the Aeolian Islands.

K’Mena a solid double-hander

In IRC 6, also from YCM, Éric Müller finished his race on the J/99 K’Mena in 14th place in his class, 4th in IRC Double-Handed, and 20th ORC Overall. A solid performance in a popular category where consistency was a key factor throughout the event.
Finally, in IRC 6, Éric Müller continued his race to Valletta on K’Mena, in the Double-Handed category, where he ranked among the best in class at the end of this edition.

A challenging race for Yacht Club de Monaco members
