YCM members dominated at the Swan Bonifacio Challenge 2026. From 22 April to 2 May, the different ClubSwan categories raced together at the southern tip of Corsica on a challenging yet always spectacular race area. Steady north-east winds, hard-fought races and narrow gaps set the pace for this edition.

Conditions set the tone from the very first races with a steady northeasterly across the area giving contestants challenging sailing conditions that pushed the limits of what was permissible.  Racing was paused on some days, as winds exceeded 25 knots forcing crews to remain on the quay.

Close ranked to the end

This edition went down to the wire and final tacks. In each category, gaps were close right up to the final day’s more moderate conditions. In ClubSwan 36, YCM’s Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio on G-Spot won at the end of a very solid finale, while in ClubSwan 50 Leonardo Ferragamo clinched 2nd place on Cuordileone, helmed by Club member Paul Cayard, recognised at the last YCM Awards.  In ClubSwan 28, Lorenzo Bortolotti completed the podium on Black Swan in 3rd place.

A venue that leaves no room for error

The Strait of Bonifacio is a challenging race venue. Between the site effects, pressure variations and rough seas, crews constantly have to adapt to keep up. This type of race area favours all-rounder crews able to make the right decisions quickly throughout the regatta. Here, speed alone is not enough. Competitors meet again at the end of May for the Swan Porto Rotondo Challenge.
