10th place for G-Spot
J/70 – European Championship – Cala Galera
18-25 May
Eleven races were launched at the J/70 European Championship for the 20 nations and 90 teams competing including six from Yacht Club de Monaco. The final rankings remained open to the end, with the Argentario race area favouring the American Joel Ronning and his crew on Catapult, ahead of Brazilians on Ocean Pact by six points, while their compatriots on Good To Go took bronze. However, according to J/70 class regulations, the European Champion title should go to a team representing a nation from the continent so that honour went to Wanderlust helmed by Sofia Giondi. Consistency positioned Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) from Yacht Club de Monaco in 10th ahead of Pierrik Devic (Raph Seven Yacht) 16th. In 29th place, Lorenzo Bortolotti (Black Swan) pipped Vladimir Prosikhin (Nika) to the post into 30th ahead of Stefano Roberti (Piccinina) 50th and Anatoli Karatchinski (Path) 75th. The event was also a stage in the Italian J/70 Championship Garmin Cup in which Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) came 3rd while Pierrik Devic (Raph Seven Yacht) was 18th ahead of Lorenzo Bortolotti (Black Swan) 30th, Vladimir Prosikhin (Nika) 45th, Stefano Roberti (Piccinina) 52nd and Anatoli Karatchinski (Path) 76th.
