A salty interlude
Navicap
13 August 2024
The Navicap philosophy as interpreted by Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section is based on the concept of making sailing accessible to everyone whatever their disability. As a result the Club’s coaches are running more and more events and today welcomed a group of residents from the Foyer de Vie Princesse Stéphanie for a sailing outing followed by lunch in the sun on the Club’s decks. Business is booming! To meet a growing demand, YCM has recently ramped up its fleet with an AIRA 22 and two HANSA 303 boats, thanks to the invaluable support of Mrs Sivoldaeva, a donor member of YCM. Supervised by coaches from the Sports Section accompanied by specialist support staff, discovery workshops are organised all year round to introduce participants to the delights of sailing. Since its launch three years ago at YCM, Navicap has continued to expand. Two of the Club’s coaches have been specially trained and made aware of the issues their charges may face, assisted by young instructors. The instructors are also invited to take part in other Navicap events in France.
