From 5 to 8 June the town of Baiona in Galicia hosted stage 3 of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2025, the Galicia Royal Cup that is a highlight of the season for one design specialists in the TP52 class. Considered by many to be the most demanding circuit in the world for these 52-footers, it attracted all the best international teams combining America’s Cup professionals, seasoned owner helmsmen and high profile tacticians.
Racing under the Yacht Club de Monaco flag, Andrés Soriano and his crew on Alegre lined up alongside ten teams from nine nations. At the end of ten races run in very varied conditions, from stiff 20-plus knot Atlantic breezes to light airs at the end of the regatta, Alegre finished 10th with a race win early on in the event.
It was won by American Magic Quantum Racing, helmed by Harry Melges IV with Terry Hutchinson on strategy.
In a packed calendar where every point counts, this stage is a milestone before the big event in July, the Rolex TP52 World Championships in Cascais. Alegre will be there along with all the other contestants to try and regain ground in the overall ranking, currently dominated by American Magic Quantum Racing.
