Alegre takes on the world's TP52 elite in a record fleet

A reference in one design racing, the Rolex TP52 World Championship gathers the class’s top owners and crews each year. The 2026 edition was no exception, featuring a highly competitive fleet that included several former world champions and circuit winners.

Racing off Costa Smeralda, the crews had to contend with typical Mediterranean conditions, namely a mix of thermal breezes, pressure fluctuations, and tactical challenges. In a fleet where gaps often separate boats by a few seconds, the slightest error can cost several places in the overall ranking.

Valuable experience at the highest level

Throughout the week aboard Alegre, Andres Soriano was competing alongside the class’s top names. Against an evenly matched fleet, the crew made the most of every race in a championship renowned for its high level of competition.

The ultimate winner of the 2026 edition was Sled to clinch their second TP52 world title. Behind the leaders, the battle remained fierce right up to the final races, once again demonstrating the high level of competition on the circuit. Designed in 2005 for peak performance, the TP52 is a “racing machine” that immediately appealed to professional sailors, particularly those with America’s Cup backgrounds.

Porto Cervo a stage for major international showdowns

Organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the Rolex TP52 World Championship remains one of the season’s major events. The renowned venue ensures its popularity as a tough competition with the world’s best teams.

Alegre took on the world’s elite in this class and their 9th place reflects the commitment of Yacht Club de Monaco members to compete in major international competitions.

The teams will meet again very soon for the circuit’s third event, which takes the 52-footers to Marina Rubicon in the Canary Islands (Lanzarote) from 20-25 July.
