The fleet was tightly-packed and the venue lived up to its reputation. This week Cascais bay in Portugal offered the best teams on the TP52 circuit ideal conditions for a World Championship regatta that went down to the wire.
Yacht Club de Monaco member Andres Soriano and his crew on Alegre produced some excellent performances to snatch 6th place in the overall ranking, having racked up 62 points after ten races to finish a whisker away from the top five.

In a championship that saw strong winds and tactically demanding courses, Alegre stood out from day one, coming 2nd in the opening race. The crew maintained a high level with good starts and legs despite some more complicated races. Final victory eventually went to the Americans on American Magic Quantum Racing, skippered by Doug DeVos, at the end of a championship that remained on a knife-edge to the end. With 11 boats representing nine nations, the TP52 fleet again showcased its high level and competitiveness. For Andres Soriano and his crew, this 6th place confirms their ability to compete at the front.
