One month to the start of the 19th palermo-montecarlo!

It’s just over a month left until the start of the 19th Palermo-Montecarlo, the late summer offshore regatta which will turn twenty next year, organized by the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, and with the collaboration of Yacht Club de Monaco and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

A new edition crowned with success

DRHEAM CUP 2024

Created in 2016, this event is open to a wide range of boats, both monohulls and multihulls, as well as to sailors, whether professional or amateur. Ninety participants took part in this fifth edition, including yachtsman Oren Nataf from the Yacht Club de Monaco aboard the Multi 50 Rayon Vert. “I come to the DRHEAM-CUP to enjoy myself. It’s a great race and one of the few that offers a bit of distance to cover,” he said.

The 2024 edition featured a 600-nautical-mile course, taking competitors from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin to La Trinité-sur-Mer.

At the pinnacle of the season

The Rolex TP52 World Championship is the pinnacle of the TP52 circuit. The 2024 edition of this world championship attracted ten crews representing seven nationalities across four continents. After ten races off the coast of Newport, Rhode Island, USA, Alegre, led by Andres Soriano of the Yacht Club de Monaco, achieved an impressive 5th place.

The 52-foot fleet will reunite from August 27 to September 1 for the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week.

Young Monégasques Stand Out

Aimed at young sailors aged 7 to 14, the Coupe Internationale d’Été is an event that commands the attention of the Optimist class. With over 350 competitors from across Europe, this gathering is a highlight in the lives of these racers, divided into different categories (Benjamin, Minime, and Criterium).

The World Sailing Youth World Championship has just concluded for the 418 sailors competing across six classes. Seventy countries were represented on the waters of Lake Garda, and as per the format, only one male and one female athlete could compete in each class.

End of a tough tour

The 45th Tour Voile just finished for the 14 crews competing in a tight-fought three weeks that saw 22 inshore and offshore races organised in six stage towns on the menu for 2024. Among participants was Nicolas Bouchet from Yacht Club de Monaco sailing on APCC Voile Sportive which finished 10th. This latest edition which started on 28th June in Dunkirk has proved a festival of top-flight confrontations that had spectators on the edge down to the last race.

The opening ceremony marked the start of the 53rd Youth Sailing World Championships which ran from 15-19 July on Lake Garda. No fewer than 418 sailors from 70 countries were there including Noah Garcia and Louise Debeaumont from Yacht Club de Monaco competing in the ILCA 6 category.

Consistency on every start

Consistency was key to staying as close as possible to the leading pack of this international meeting. Jérémy Moutout and Bodhi Van Der Linden, both from Yacht Club de Monaco, were perfect examples. After six races contested in the Baltic Sea they finished 14th and 15th in ILCA 7 respectively, both managing a race in the top ten.

Another podium for Vamos mi Amor

Fifth stage on the calendar, the Coppa Europa is one of the last major stage events before the grand finale of the Smeralda 888 Championship held in Monaco 11-13 October. Another regatta that saw some superb results from the Monegasques with 2nd place for Vamos mi Amor helmed by Charles de Bourbon des Deux Siciles just behind Django.

Laser sailors from Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section made another trip to Breton shores for the France Open, a key event in the calendar for the ILCA 6 class in particular as it’s here where the French Men’s Championship takes place. Mathis Duplomb acquitted himself well over the course of eight races to come 14th overall having finished in the top ten in five of them.
