Monaco, 15th March 2024. The clock is ticking down to the 5th Superyacht Chef Competition, organised by Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with Bluewater on 4th April 2024 under the aegis of YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre. This internationally renowned celebration of the art of fine cuisine at sea puts the spotlight on an essential aspect of yachting professions. “Every year, this event brings together talented chefs from all over the world, ready to take up the challenge of creating unforgettable culinary experiences as a showcase of gastronomic excellence on superyachts, the Superyacht Chef Competition continues to make its mark on the yachting world while promoting the values of our collective ‘Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach,” says YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.
When the ladies take centre stage in Monaco
Following a highly successful first edition last year, Yacht Club de Monaco is organising the 2nd all-female Woman Leading and Sailing Trophy on J/70s. “This competition had a great impact last year and it seemed only logical to continue the adventure and open it up to more teams,” says YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri. Held under the aegis of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, in collaboration with the French and Monegasque Sailing Federations and in partnership with FxPro and Slam, the regatta will welcome 90 sailors from around the world.
Triumphs & Innovations at the 40th Primo Cup – Trophée UBS
With wind conditions oscillating between 8 to 18 knots, the 40th Primo Cup-Trophée UBS proved tense and exciting for the 400 sailors and 10 nations competing as they showcased their mastery of racing tactics in J/70, Smeralda 888, Longtze Premier and Cape 31. Greeted by YCM’s President HSH Prince Albert II at the opening ceremony, all present discovered the coveted Perpetual Trophy, made by Buccellati and engraved with the 32 winners of the event in the best represented classes from the last four decades.
40 years of innovation and tradition
The 40th Primo Cup-Trophée UBS, the first major international event held under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Perpetual Trophy made by Buccellati was unveiled. Every year, the name of the winner of the most represented class will be inscribed on the trophy to immortalise the names of the sailors’ performance. Among the 32 names already engraved (representing eight nations) are Monegasques Claude Rodelato, Ludovico Fassitelli and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio.
40 years celebrating one design classes
At the start of the 2024 season, sailing world’s eyes will be fixed on the Principality of Monaco this weekend where top international one design teams will be competing at the 40th Primo Cup-Trophée UBS. Over the years, this regatta has left its mark, attracting big names in sailing and becoming renowned as a testbed for trying out new boats, kit and equipment, raising the Monegasque race area’s status to that of a laboratory of innovation.
Great start to the season for Prosikhin
The crew on Team Nika led by Yacht Club de Monaco’s Vladimir Prosikhin has just ended the 44Cup Calero Marinas in style, winning four of the nine races held in optimal conditions over the four days. “It was a very good regatta with difficult conditions and strong winds,” commented Vladimir Prosikhin. Nico Poons (Charisma), YCM Awards 2023 winner came 6th ahead of Torbjorn Tornqvist (Artemis Racing) 8th. The RC44 fleet will be back out on the race circuit 8-12 May in Spain for the season’s second event.
À Chacun Son Cap: a unique adventure at sea for children in remission from cancer
Monday 4th March 2024. François Miribel from Yacht Club de Monaco has just unveiled a fabulous initiative entitled À Chacun Son Cap (“each to their own”) cruise.
This ambitious project aims to give children aged 10 to 17 from IHOPe in Lyon, who are in remission from cancer, a truly memorable experience. Thanks to the generosity of YCM members, from 21-27 April these young people will have the opportunity to sail along the coast between Hyères and Monaco on boats made available for the trip at no charge.
Joost Schuijff the unstoppable
Held in the Caribbean, every year the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta attracts top sailors from all over the world. 2024 will be remembered as a vintage edition with an all-conquering win for Joost Schuijff on his Farr 100 Leopard 3. An experienced skipper and Yacht Club de Monaco member, Joost Schuijff led his crew to victory with aplomb, demonstrating great skill in a series of tactical and demanding races, winning it hands down with an 8-point lead over his nearest rival. A great start to the year for this sailor who had also just clinched 1st in the RORC Caribbean 600.
ILCA – Mediterranean Championship – Hyères
All the sporting action this weekend was to be found in Hyères at the Mediterranean Championship, with sailors from Monaco producing some fine performances in the Laser categories, underlining the quality of the competition.
Monegasques took leading roles, youngsters like Mathis Duplomb who pulled off an excellent 3rd in the ILCA 7 group. Davide Marino also proved his potential by coming 7th in the same category. In ILCA 6, Noah Garcia left his mark on the competition when he clinched 4th place, while Louise Debeaumont came 8th girl in ILCA 6.
Gold Fleet for Jérémy Moutout
The ILCA Senior European Championships concluded in Athens with a great performance by Jérémy Moutout who won his place in the Gold group. Competing in light conditions oscillating between 5 and 14 knots, the Yacht Club de Monaco sailor demonstrated his mastery of tactics and strategy.
