Launched in 1906, the Newport Bermuda Race is one of the great classics of offshore racing. Held every two years between Rhode Island and the Bermuda archipelago, this 636-nautical-mile crossing is among the oldest races still in existence and remains a benchmark in offshore sailing.
Against a fleet of 144 contestants, Black Jack 100 left no room for doubt. The Maxi skippered by Remon Vos with Tristan Le Brun on board dominated the race, crossing the finish line first before also confirming its superiority in corrected time.
In a race renowned for its strategic passages through the Gulf Stream and numerous weather transitions, the Black Jack 100 crew triumphed after a flawless performance from the start in Newport to the finish in Bermuda.
The achievement is all the more remarkable, as they also won the GH Overall group of 19 teams and the GH2 category against nine competitors.
Black Jack 100 received the traditional Royal Bermuda Yacht Club welcome on arrival as the crew added its name to the list of winners of one of the most coveted races on the international calendar. Black Jack 100 seems unstoppable, racking up victory after victory. Having won the Rolex Fastnet Race (line honours), the Rolex Middle Sea Race (line honours), and the last Palermo-Montecarlo, the Maxi remains one of the most formidable competitors in offshore racing.
