An iconic international event, the Admiral’s Cup returned this year after a two-decade absence with a format combining offshore and inshore races. The event kicked off with the offshore co-efficient-2 (double points) Channel Race, followed by six inshore races this week on the famous Solent.

The second day of inshore races at the Admiral’s Cup proved a tactical masterclass for crews in challenging conditions. In a shifty light breeze, teams had to dig deep into their knowledge of currents and interpreting the water to exploit every little gust.

Just one race was launched by PRO Stuart Childerley in a 5-11 knot breeze with a strong west-going tide cutting across a course that was set well off the Hill Head shore. A short but testing 1.6 nautical miles for the ACI class and 1.4nm for AC2.

20th Palermo–Montecarlo anniversary set to live up to reputation

The Palermo-Montecarlo celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with what promises to be an outstanding line-up. Organised by Circolo della Vela Sicilia in collaboration with Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the race links the Gulf of Mondello in Palermo to the Principality of Monaco on a 500 nautical mile course across one of the most strategic and changeable basins in the Mediterranean.

The Yacht Club de Monaco teams got their 2025 Admiral’s Cup campaign off to a perfect start, taking the lead in their class ranking after an offshore (Channel Race) and the first thrilling inshore race day. In a big sea and shifting 16 knot breeze building to top 20, the races set the tone.

After three days and nine races, the fourth stage of the Cape 31 Mediterranean Circuit held at Imperia lived up to expectations. In fickle wind on the Friday and stronger breezes on the Sunday, nothing could be taken for granted by the 15-strong fleet from 13 nations.

He came to compete at the highest level and more than held his own. At a venue that will host the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Jérémy Moutout, member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, finished 33rd out of 52 in a top-ranked fleet in ILCA 7, the men’s Olympic class.
