Superyacht Chef Competition

The curtain has fallen on the 6th Superyacht Chef Competition. Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre and Bluewater, this year’s high-stakes culinary contest was won by Benjamin Ferrand (M/Y Victoria Del Mar – 50m). Nine chefs working on superyachts ranging from 36m to 97m lined up on the quay to showcase their talents to a jury of experts and a captivated audience. Under strict time and space constraints, and a basket of mystery ingredients to work with, contestants skilfully created one dish after another, juggling metronomic timings, refined textures and pin-precise seasonings.

Yacht Club de Monaco’s Optimist fleet were in action in the Interligue Sud in Marseille where windy conditions saw four races completed in the younger Benjamin group and five in the older Minime category.

The Monegasque delegation of young sailors from the Sports Section did the Club proud at the ILCA Europa Cup in Lugano. In ILCA 6, Louise Debeaumont produced a fine performance to come 12th out of 48 contestants in this highly competitive group. It included a 6th place for the first race, proof of her potential against an experienced European elite.

YCM takes centre stage

The 31st St. Barths Bucket Regatta again attracted the world’s sailing elite who put on a fantastic spectacle off Saint-Barthélemy. For three days, 30 superyachts ranging from 28m to 38m were competing in this demanding yet prestigious regatta.

The Europa Cup in Imperia concluded after four days of intense racing in contrasting weather conditions. With five races contested, it was an ideal opportunity for sailors to fine tune their settings against a strong field.

After three intense days of racing, the curtain fell on the Virginie Hériot Trophy organised by Yacht Club de Monaco. The all-female regatta attracted 21 teams representing nine nations racing on J/70s, proof of the momentum driving women’s sailing. Held under the aegis of the French and Monegasque Sailing Federations with support of FxPro, the event owes its success to the commitment of Pink Wave, a collective of women sailors at YCM who have been competing successfully on the international scene for six years. This year again attracted international teams including four American teams, including from the prestigious Manhattan Yacht Club.

Midway through the Virginie Hériot Trophy, pressure is mounting in Monaco. After two days of racing, the 21 all-female teams competing are on the final straight with one goal: to win. Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco under the aegis of the Monegasque and French Sailing Federations, with the support of FxPro, the event has brought sailors together from all over the world.

Yacht Club de Monaco’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre and Bluewater have joined forces again in organising the 6th Superyacht Chef Competition on Thursday 3rd April. Under the watchful eyes of an expert jury and encouraged by their fellow crew members, nine chefs working on superyachts from 36m to 97m will vie for supremacy at the YCM in this highly original competition. As well as time and space constraints they will be working with a basket of mystery ingredients to create dishes worthy of the finest dining experience, showcasing the outstanding gourmet cuisine served on yachts.
