Keeping in contact with the competition
A total of 18 Team Race teams were competing in this must-do Italian event which was celebrating its 36th edition. Océane Schroeder, Ludovica Bonelli, Alexandra Santelli and Facundo Rubinelli made the trip to take advantage of the Venice race area to perfect sailing skills to keep in contact with foreign competitors.
YCM sailors keep up the pace
The Europa Cup de Punta Ala ended on a high on Sunday. The ILCA 7 Men and ILCA 6 Women categories concluded their championship with seven races on the clock while the ILCA 6 Men and ILCA 4 Women had five races in which to make their mark.
Victory for Tuiga
The 29th edition of the biggest spring meeting of classic yachts ended on Sunday with two races completed in every category. After her victory in the Grandi Regate Internazionali in Sanremo, a 4th place at Les Voiles de Cassis and 2nd in the ladies regatta in Saint-Tropez, YCM’s flagship gaff cutter is on a roll with another victory, this time in the Big Boat category. The 15M IR was closely followed by Carlo Falcone’s Mariella, also from YCM. Bart Weduwer (Encounter) finished 5th in IOR while Argynne III came 9th in the Classique Marconi.

The PACA dinghy championship (Ligue Voile Légère PACA) ended this weekend in Cannes. Several hundred sailors in 19 categories, including some 20 from Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section, made the trip with talented young sailors from the Principality pulling off some remarkable performances.

For this first edition of the Swan Bonifacio Challenge stage on The Nations League circuit, the Mistral turned its tap on adding spice to the proceedings to make it even more memorable. The Corsican event represented the second stage of the season for the ClubSwan 36 boats and the first of the year for the ClubSwan 50 and ended after five days of sailing.

In the Italian sailing world, the 151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar symbolises a sports challenge par excellence. Open to all and laid out to test the teams strategic qualities to the limit, the event owes its success to the layout.
Malizia-Seaexplorer on the start
The IMOCA fleet are back out at sea on another challenge crossing the North Atlantic from west to east. A few weeks after a superb performance in The Transat CIC (formerly the English Transat) in which Boris Herrmann from Yacht Club de Monaco finished 2nd, the 60-footers have left Manhattan and its skyline. For this 2nd edition of the New York Vendée-Les Sables d’Olonne, 28 skippers were on the start line that was anchored off the American coast.
2nd place for Realteam Sailing
First stage of the season and first podium finish for Esteban Garcia’s Realteam Sailing from Yacht Club de Monaco after the TF35s battled it out on Lake Geneva at the TF35 Nyon Cup. They kept up the pace as evidenced by nine races over three days. Realteam Sailing took advantage of moderate conditions to stay in the top ranking, missing out on a win by two small points to Sail of Change 8. The fleet will be at Club Nautique de Versoix 7-9 June for the TF35 Mies.
10th place for G-Spot
Eleven races were launched at the J/70 European Championship for the 20 nations and 90 teams competing including six from Yacht Club de Monaco. The final rankings remained open to the end, with the Argentario race area favouring the American Joel Ronning and his crew on Catapult, ahead of Brazilians on Ocean Pact by six points, while their compatriots on Good To Go took bronze.
5th place for Peter Harrison
Twenty-five Maxi yachts and 400+ sailors among the best in the world enjoyed four days of inshore races and an offshore race at the IMA Maxi European Championship, organised by Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia in collaboration with the International Maxi Association. This year the Gulf of Naples produced a variety of conditions for participants who’d come from all over the world. Yacht Club de Monaco’s Peter Harrison pulled off a superb 5th place on Jolt, while Benoît de Froidmont, also from YCM, with Wallyno came 8th after six races. The IMA Maxi European Championship will return to Naples-Sorrento next year 16-22 May 2025.
