The Cluster Yachting Monaco held its annual Winter Pop-Up, a landmark event that brought together professionals from across the industry and a fleet of yachts moored in the YCM Marina presented by companies including Ocean Independence, Fraser Yachts and Althaus Yachting. Yachting stakeholders and visitors were able to visit the boats on display before discussing the thorny issue of ‘Charting safety, responsibility and media influence’. “The event is held under the aegis of our collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ initiative. It provides a communication platform that is essential to progress discussions and better analyse the sector, which is undergoing profound changes,” began Bernard d’Alessandri, President of the Cluster Yachting Monaco.
Deep dive into ecological and social issues affecting yachting
29th Captains’ Forum
On International Maritime Organization (IMO) World Maritime Day, the day after the Owners’ Lunch, Yacht Club de Monaco held its annual Captains’ Forum that gathered over a hundred superyacht captains, the linear length of their commands totalling 4,200m, and industry specialists. The meeting is in line with the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach and saw some fascinating discussions on the image of yachting. Before the 29th Captains’ Forum, a survey conducted among 130 superyacht captains revealed key trends affecting the sector’s future.
MoU signed as Yacht Club de Monaco and Astir Marina Vouliagmeni take another step in their collaboration
After inaugurating its marina in Greece last May, representatives from Astir today signed a collaboration with Yacht Club de Monaco in the form of an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), with a view to obtaining ‘La Belle Classe Destinations by YCM’ certification.
Launched in 2011, the certification sets a standard for excellence in terms of quality of facilities, services and events offered. The ambition is to establish an exclusive network of yacht clubs and marinas which fully respects the unique character of each destination and promotes development of sustainable yachting on a global scale.
The White Pirate calls into YCM
Opération Les Voiles Blanches
For the 5th Les Voiles Blanches, the legendary White Pirate set sail 24 August 2024 on a three-week adventure with a very special purpose aboard the 9.15m monohull, YKA. For the aim of this trip with 18 ports of call is to collect new gifts, in their original packaging, to distribute to children in hospital under the care of the Lenval Foundation in Nice. After Antibes, Cassis, Porquerolles and Sainte-Maxime, it was Yacht Club de Monaco’s turn to welcome him on Monday 9th September 2024.
Double celebration for YCM
Ten years ago, the whole Yacht Club de Monaco family gathered to attend the inauguration of the new building designed by Lord Foster. This year the traditional Summer Cocktail held on Monday 17th June was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary and 40 years of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco’s presidency, surrounded by HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover, YCM Vice-Presidents Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi, Alexandra of Hanover and the Management Committee. Between surprise videos, personal messages, live music and a gourmet voyage on the quays by 17 renowned chefs, presenting specialities of their regions associated with a wine estate, everyone enjoyed the togetherness of the occasion.
Another success on the green
As every year, Yacht Club de Monaco organised the hugely popular YCM Golf Challenge on the superb Monte-Carlo Golf Club course, perched at an altitude of 900m overlooking the Principality. All YCM members who love golf turned out to play a two-person team Scramble Tour with Stableford scoring and Shot Gun start.
A seagoing cruise for children in remission from cancer proves an unforgettable experience
Four sailing boats generously made available by members of the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco gave nine children in remission from cancer an unforgettable experience. From 21-27 April, these young heroes from the specialist Léon-Bérard centre in Lyon, aged nine to 17 years old, embarked on a very special therapeutic cruise thanks to a partnership between the Sir Ernst Expedition association, the ‘A chacun son cap’ association and the YCM.
Departing from Le Lavandou in the Var this magical maritime odyssey ended at the Yacht Club de Monaco on Friday at noon after a truly memorable week for these young people.
To encourage R&D and development of sustainable yachting
It was as part of Monaco Ocean Week that the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Yacht Club de Monaco officially announced a new prize for the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (https://energyboatchallenge.com/) that marks a new milestone in their partnership and was attended by Mike Horn and Bertrand Piccard, the event’s sponsor.
Under the aegis of the collective Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting approach and organised by YCM, this event brings maritime industry pioneers together with visionary engineers around a common goal: to promote alternative propulsion and sustainability in the yachting sector. On the programme, a unique convergence of boats already on or about to enter the market and innovative prototypes. “Every year, students surpass themselves. They are an amazing source of ideas. It is fascinating to see their potential and we are happy to put them in contact with industry players who are a great support for these young engineers,” says YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.

Yacht Club de Monaco and The Explorers Club celebrate the spirit of adventure
In a collaboration with The Explorers Club of New York, nearly 150 explorers made the trip for the first time to the Yacht Club de Monaco for its 13th Environmental Symposium entitled Day of Exploration, packed with talks and meetings that concluded with the 4th YCM Explorer Awards. Orchestrated by YCM, these meetings are key events during Monaco Ocean Week organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in partnership with the Monaco Government, the Monaco Oceanographic Institute and Monaco Scientific Centre. “We are keen to work together to promote research, innovation and education. This is the ambition of the ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, initiated by the Yacht Club de Monaco which aims to encourage and develop sustainable, innovative yachting,” said HSH Prince Albert II.

Monaco Ocean Week
The 7th Monaco Ocean Week, orchestrated by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in partnership with the Monaco Government, the Monaco Oceanographic Institute and Monaco Scientific Centre is in full swing. It is a major international event at which Yacht Club de Monaco is responsible for the yachting element, introducing for the first time this year a Day of Exploration in collaboration with The Explorers Club of New York. For this special occasion, a delegation of around a hundred Americans have made the trip to the Principality to participate in a busy programme of meetings and discussions.
