80 sailors – 4 continents – 20 nations
For four days the team racing elite in the Optimist class will battle it out for supremacy at the Yacht Club de Monaco in the 11th Monaco Optimist Team Race. This year, for the first time since its launch, there will be 20 teams from 20 countries in competition.
“This international event for budding young sailors is part of our Monaco: Capital of Yachting project, as being a destination that attracts high-level competitions and sailors from all over the world,” explains Yacht Club de Monaco General Secretary, Bernard d’Alessandri.
The Maxi Vera takes line honours at 15th edition

The big winners of the 15th Palermo-Montecarlo 2019 are the Ice 52 Primavista Lauria helmed by Gaetano Figlia di Granara and Miguel Galuccio’s Maxi Vera. The 500 nautical mile offshore race officially ended Monday 26th August in the Yacht Club de Monaco’s marina, with sailors celebrating their crossing at the prize-giving and party in the evening. An annual event it is organised by the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, in partnership with the Yacht Club de Monaco and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
A tailor-made programme

The clock is ticking down to the start of the 11th Monaco Optimist Team Race, organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco with support from FxPro, Eventica, Fon, clothing supplier SLAM and the boatyard Erplast. Eighty under-14 sailors representing 18 nations are set to do battle in the qualifying round-robin stage that takes up the first three days.
