The League Cup Finale was held in Marseille, 17-18 May, in good conditions with 7 through to 12 knot winds ensuring an ideal race area for dinghy specialists.
In ILCA 7, Mathis Duplomb did the Yacht Club de Monaco proud winning all six of the six races completed, unchallenged by the 11-strong fleet. Behind the leader, Gabriel Superina came in 6th followed closely by Davide Marino in 7th in this particularly competitive class.
YCM was also represented in ILCA 6 with Louise Debeaumont finishing 17th and gaining valuable experience. And in the popular packed ILCA 4 category, YCM’s young sailors put up a good fight: Gabriel Lanteri Gaglio came 16th followed by Roman Lampert (17th), Antoine Sauval (26th) and Ennio Rostagni (31st). The trip reflects the drive behind the ILCA section at Yacht Club de Monaco that is gaining momentum for the upcoming summer regattas.
The Marseille weekend was not limited to the Olympic class dinghies. In the Optimist Minime (older group) Océane Schroeder finished her regatta in 34th out of 61 contestants, gaining valuable experience in the often tricky conditions. In the younger Optimist Benjamin category the next generation of Monaco sailors did the country proud. Louis Faivre clinched a very promising 6th place, with Jules Huon in 14th ahead of Mona Benchekroune (18th), Louis Pompée (21st), Sacha Mousny (22nd), Julian Lampert (27th) and Anastasia Verdeka (28th). Finally, in the all-inclusive Hansa 303, Nicolas Lelu pulled off a very respectable 5th place.
