Congratulations to Yacht Club de Monaco member Dan Lenard on his remarkable solo, unassisted sailing achievement in a Laser/ILCA dinghy. Between 12 and 18 August 2025, Lenard sailed a total of 321.5 nautical miles in 147 hours and 41 minutes, starting and finishing at D-Marin Marina Dalmacija in Croatia. This performance surpasses the previous benchmark of 283.5 miles set in 2014, and was tracked in real time by the YB Iridium Satellite Tracker – followed live by more than 190,000 enthusiasts from 38 countries – as well as by Lenard’s personal Garmin GPS system

Witnessed at departure and arrival by marina staff, yachts and professional observers, the feat has already attracted significant media attention across international sailing and yachting platforms.
I am proud that this record not only demonstrates the endurance and spirit of sailing, but also carries a clear message: yachting can and must lead by example in protecting the oceans. As a Member of the Yacht Club de Monaco and through the Vela Code Foundation, my commitment is to expand awareness and inspire others to embrace a more responsible relationship with the sea”, said Dan Lenard.
In addition to the athletic dimension, Lenard’s crossing was carried out with zero single-use plastic waste, using only glass and aluminium packaging. This initiative reflects the mission of the Vela Code Foundation founded by Dan Lenard, and is fully aligned with YCM’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices in yachting.
As a Member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Dan Lenard embodies the values of excellence, perseverance and respect for the environment that the Club seeks to foster.
