Nautical parade : maritime tradition in the spotlight

Sailing, motoring, rowing… more than thirty units gathered in the Monegasque bay. After a blessing at sea in tribute to the departed sailors, celebrated by Monsignor René Giuliano, the entire fleet left the Oceanographic Museum to begin a unique parade led by Argynne III.

Entertainment for all tastes

During the Fête de la Mer, a variety of exciting nautical activities are on offer for all ages.

  • Discover sailing and paddling: Participants can learn to sail or enjoy stand-up paddling on the calm waters of the Mediterranean.
  • Educational workshops and demonstrations: Some associations offer interactive workshops to educate youngsters about the marine ecosystem, with hands-on demonstrations of marine flora and fauna.
Inflatable course: A fun course is set up on the water, offering a fun and physical challenge for participants of all ages.
  • E-surf and E-Foil: These innovative new activities, combining technology and water sports, allow participants to try out electric boards and E-Foils, adding a futuristic and exhilarating touch to the event.

faq

Fête de la Mer is a festive intergenerational event organised by Yacht Club de Monaco. A full day of activities and paying tribute to the sea and nautical traditions it brings together families, sea lovers and Monegasque institutions to try out a range of watersports and educational activities.

The event is held every year in June within Port Hercule and the YCM Marina.

Fête de la Mer is open to the general public who include children, adults, retirees and athletes. Among the many Monegasque institutions who support it are Monaco City Hall, the Prince Albert II Foundation, the Oceanographic Museum, the Club d’Exploration Sous-marine de Monaco (scuba diving), and environmental associations.

Activities organised include:

  • A parade of boats of all shapes and size, preceded by a blessing for those lost at sea.
  • Introductory sessions for sailing, paddle boarding, scuba diving, kayaking, e-foiling and other water sports.
  • Educational workshops and eco-awareness stands promoting how important it is to protect the sea.
  • Entertainment for children: inflatables, water slides, etc.

Fête de la Mer combines tradition, sport, ecology and transmission. It reflects the Principality’s commitment to promote the sea, biodiversity and responsible practices.

Fête de la Mer is open to the public who can watch the parade from the quays in the YCM Marina, register to try some of the watersports (depending on availability) and visit the stands. Families are welcome throughout the day.

YCM’s Fête de la Mer is a great opportunity to introduce young people and the general public to the sea and its values. The educational workshops on biodiversity, recycling and navigation help raise awareness of the maritime world and all it has to offer. It has a role to play in shaping the future citizens of the sea in line with YCM’s educational and environmental mission.
