Yacht Club de Monaco was represented in India at the Asian Inclusive Sailing Series held in Mysore for the Hansa class, a flagship of inclusive sailing. Able-bodied and sailors with a disability from all over the Asian continent came together in a spirit of openness, friendly rivalry and a shared love of the sea.
Representing YCM, Nicolas Lelu did brilliantly in both formats. In the one-person category (Hansa 2.3), he earned the gold medal in the disabled category as well as a bronze medal in the overall ranking, all categories combined out of a total of 23 contestants. The two awards underpin his skill and unwavering commitment on the international scene.
In the two-person category (Hansa 303), the Monaco helmsman came 8th out of 25 double-handers at the end of a series of races in light but tricky conditions.
This regatta reflects the true spirit of inclusive sailing, where passion, performance and self-improvement are at the fore. For the YCM, Nicolas Lelu’s success in Mysore embodies the values of openness and universality that the Club strives to promote at sea and ashore.
Inclusive sailing takes centre stage again at the end of November when the 3rd Navicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy takes place, organised by the YCM, 28-30 November.
