Grimaldi Trophy – Sanremo – Monaco – Sanremo – 27-29 October 2023

Friday 27th October 2023. As every year, Yacht Club de Monaco closes the summer racing season with the Grimaldi Trophy organised by Yacht Club Sanremo with a stage in the Principality.

On Friday, a strong south-westerly nudging 30 knots forced organisers to rewrite the programme which starts in Sanremo for Ventimiglia, then leaves Ventimiglia for Monaco the next day.

Some 60 boats will now set off from Sanremo on Saturday morning for Cal del Forte in Ventimiglia to go through an obligatory gate before continuing to Monaco.

Among the many teams from Monaco taking part are Andrea Statari on his Gorilla Gang (in IRC/ORC), Loïc Pompée aboard Le Joy (in IRC), Alain Mazzoleni’s Alcyon 3 (in the Libera Class) and the 14m Classic Marconi Argynne III that joined YCM’s fleet a year ago.  Also on the start is the YCM’s flagship, the gaff cutter Tuiga (in IRC), crewed as always by a committed group of members. On Sunday morning, the fleet heads back along the coast to Sanremo where the prize-giving will take place.
