The SEA Index® is based on a robust, easy-to-use, and impartial methodology for assessing the environmental impact of yachts over 24meters. With 842 yachts assessed to date, the SEA Index® is built upon the IMO’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) methodologies, adapted specifically for superyachts.
Launched in 2020 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, under its ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ initiative, the Superyacht Eco Association via the SEA Index® provides yacht owners with an independent assessment of their yachts’ energy efficiency. It enables stakeholders to make informed decisions when designing, purchasing, selling, or chartering a vessel.
The SEA Index CO2 certification process, verified by Lloyd’s Register, was designed to enhance transparency across the industry, promoting more responsible yachting practices.
