At the closing ceremony on 14 October 2025 for the MonaCube competition in the Auditorium of the Lycée Rainier III, Yacht Club de Monaco stood out in the top five. Launched by the Department of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, the aim of the competition was to encourage public and community stakeholders in the Principality to reduce their energy consumption. Out of the 25 buildings participating, YCM’s Clubhouse came 5th having achieved 8.9% energy savings in one year, totalling 303MWh.

The result is in line with YCM’s commitment to responsible energy management that combines environmental performance and operational excellence. On a site equipped with refrigeration units, centralised management, photovoltaic panels and high-intensity equipment, the reduction reflects rigorous and closely controlled management.

Coordination and precision the keys

For one year, from July 2024 to June 2025, technical teams at Yacht Club de Monaco followed a rigorous meticulous approach:
– to optimise control of air handling units, adjusted to the event schedule;
– voluntary shutdown of a refrigeration unit to reduce winter consumption;
– automatic adjustment of pumps resulting in savings up to 20%;
– installation of anti-UV films on the windows, improving thermal comfort and reducing air conditioning needs;
– reducing hours when lights are on in some less frequented areas.

Ongoing internal communication and pragmatic awareness-raising of teams and service providers helped maintain the YCM’s energy use and efficiency balance.
