Sanremo once again hosted the Grandi Regate Internazionali that attracts many of the most beautiful classic boats on the Mediterranean circuit. Two days of racing in variable conditions gave them an opportunity to show off the style and skills associated with traditional sailing that combines elegance at sea with tactical precision.
The Monaco sailors did their country proud, notably Massimiliano Ferruzi (Il Moro di Venezia) who came 2nd in the Classic IOR confirming the potential of his boat and a fine-tuned crew in a demanding fleet. In the same category, Bart Weduwer aboard Encounter finished 7th.
In the Classic group, Yacht Club de Monaco’s Argynne III had a solid regatta to come 6th in a category where mark roundings were particularly close. In the Regata Crociera, this 1955 Marconi cutter designed by the talented Eugène Cornu ranked 4th.
In the Vintage 1 category, YCM’s 15M IR flagship Tuiga clinched 3rd place. Next stop for the fleet is Les Voiles d’Antibes 4-8 June.
