Building on the success of last year, NatPower H is reaffirming its commitment to sustainable yachting by expanding its partnership with the Yacht Club de Monaco. As the official hydrogen supplier for the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025, NatPower H will provide hydrogen to support all competing teams throughout the event, which takes place from July 2nd to July 5th, 2025.

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, now in its twelfth edition, is a leading global competition demonstrating the efficiency of eco propulsion and hull design innovation for maritime mobility. The event, open to the public, will bring together 35 teams from 18 countries, featuring more than 1000 students, engineers, and innovators involved year-round developing next-generation sustainable propulsion systems. The competition is divided into four distinct classes (AI Class, Energy Class, Sealab Class and Open Sea Class) based on energy sources and technological approaches, ensuring a level playing field while driving forward groundbreaking innovations in zero-emission yachting. NatPower H will supply hydrogen and offer refueling services free of charge to all participating boats, making clean energy more accessible to innovators in the field. This initiative is a crucial step toward the widespread adoption of hydrogen as a clean, high-performance alternative to fossil fuels in the maritime sector, demonstrating its viability in real-world applications. “After successfully enabling the first hydrogen refueling during last year’s competition, we are now taking a decisive step forward by supplying hydrogen for the entire event. This collaboration with the Yacht Club de Monaco is not just a sponsorship—it’s a strategic alliance that aligns with our vision for a cleaner, more innovative boating industry,” said Andrea Minerdo, Chairman NatPower H. “By facilitating access to hydrogen-powered solutions, we are demonstrating that the transition to zero-emission yachting is not only possible but already underway.”
“At the Yacht Club de Monaco, we firmly believe that innovation is key to building a more sustainable future for yachting. Our strengthened partnership with NatPower H marks a pivotal moment in demonstrating the viability of hydrogen as a clean, high-performance energy source. By providing free hydrogen to all competing teams, we are not only supporting the next generation of engineers and innovators but also sending a clear signal: the energy transition in yachting is accelerating, and Monaco is proud to be leading the charge. As part of this commitment, we will host the 6th Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels Conference on Friday, July 4th, alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Energy Transition Mission, to highlight breakthroughs and practical solutions shaping the future of clean maritime mobility,” said Bernard d’Alessandri, General Secretary, Yacht Club de Monaco As climate change accelerates, sustainability is no longer an option—it’s a necessity. With initiatives like the EU’s FuelEU program and the expansion of marine protected areas, the maritime industry is under increasing pressure to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. The EU’s ambitious goal to cut emissions by 55% by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050 underscores the urgency of this transition. Hydrogen is emerging as a transformative force in yachting, offering a clean, efficient, and silent alternative to traditional propulsion systems. Hydrogen-powered vessels provide zero-emission navigation without compromising range or performance. Thanks to continuous advancements in fuel cell technology and refueling innovation, hydrogen is poised to redefine maritime transport as a truly sustainable industry.
