On conquered terrain
Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series – Act III
9-11 February 2024
Friday 9th February 2024. Since 2013, Monaco bay has been the stage of a unique spectacle that attracts the very best J/70 teams for the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series.
Organised by Yacht Club de Monaco, these monthly regattas have become a must-do tradition on the winter sailing calendar, attracting fiercely competitive teams from all over Europe. Friday was the start of Act III of the 2023-2024 season which saw Monaco teams out in force.
Hard-nosed from the start
In a fresh 15-knot southerly, the around 30 teams in competition enjoyed three races, with the Monegasques taking centre stage led by Stefano Roberti on Piccinina. He pulled off two wins and a 4th place in the final race.
The crew on board certainly played their role with a near-faultless performance, starting with Jérémy Moutout. Having clinched a place in the silver at the ILCA 7 World Championship held in Australia in January, the Monegasque athlete is keeping up the pace, this time as part of a team.
The Italians on Petite terrible – Adra Ferries slipped into a provisional 2nd place, pipping to this post Samuel Poons on Charisma V. Bringing up the rear of the leading pack are Pierrik Devic (Raph Seven Yacht) and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot), 4th and 5th respectively.
Rendezvous tomorrow Saturday 10th February at 11.00am for day two of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series Act III.
