Nautor Swan – ClubSwan 28

Friday 21st June 2024

Nautor Swan chose Yacht Club de Monaco to present an exclusive preview of one of its latest models. The ClubSwan 28 is the smallest boat ever produced by the Finnish yard and was unveiled in the presence of Nautor Swan Monaco Managing Director Lorenzo Bortolloti, alongside Federico Michetti, head of Sports Activities and Swan Product Manager, both members of the Club. Designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, the one design is positioned as the ideal boat in varied conditions with a preference for light airs. This latest product from Nautor Swan combines simplicity, quality and pure speed without compromising the quest for performance.

Specs and performance

With a hull length of 8.50m, the one design can take a crew of four or five. The hull and deck are constructed of specially reinforced fibreglass, with a carbon mast and no backstay. The sleek lines and large cockpit are designed to facilitate manoeuvres, while the sail plan comprises a mainsail, jib, and gennaker & spinnaker rigged up and down on a two-metre-plus long retractable bowsprit.

Thanks to the lifting keel and dimensions the boat is easy to transport by trailer, so no need to get a special permit to attend a regatta. The cherry on the cake is that it can be rigged in just a few hours!

The ClubSwan 28 looks set to be a serious candidate for inshore racing. “Our goal was to design a boat that prioritises ease of navigation rather than pushing the limits of pure performance,” explains Federico Michetti.

Newcomer to the Monegasque circuit

The boat is expected to participate in the next Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series alongside the J/70s. This series of monthly regattas organised by Yacht Club de Monaco has established itself as a must-do circuit on the winter calendar, attracting sailors from all over Europe keen to hone their race skills before the season.

Many Yacht Club de Monaco members are regulars on the race scene aboard Swan boats, including Leonardo Ferragamo on Cuordileone, Graeme Peterson on Moonlight (ClubSwan50) and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio on G-Sport (ClubSwan 36).
