SEA Index® Expands to the CaribbeanThe Superyacht Eco Association (SEA Index®), an initiative by the Yacht Club de Monaco, proudly announces the institutional membership of Port de Gustavia, marking a strategic expansion into the French Antilles and reinforcing its leadership in sustainable yachting across the Atlantic. To date, more than 20 ports and marinas across the Mediterranean (France, Monaco, Italy) and the Seychelles have signed on.

Port de Gustavia: A Caribbean Hub for Responsible Yachting

Located in the heart of Saint Barthélemy, Port de Gustavia is one of the most exclusive destinations for superyachts in the Caribbean. By joining the SEA Index® network, the port strengthens global efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and promote eco-conscious yachting practices.

This partnership aligns with SEA Index®’s mission to measure and minimize the environmental impact of superyachts, ensuring transparency and accountability in the yachting sector.

Driving climate action in yachting

As an institutional member, Port de Gustavia will actively promote the SEA Index® CO₂ rating tool, enabling yacht owners, captains, and charterers to calculate and understand their vessel’s carbon footprint. This empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions that combine yachting exclusivity with sustainability.

Incentives for low-emission yachts

Together, SEA Index® and Port de Gustavia will implement an incentive programto attract yachts with the lowest CO₂ emissions, rewarding environmental performance and setting a new standard for Caribbean marinas. This initiative reflects a forward-thinking approach where prestige meets responsibility.

SEA Index® Expands to the Caribbean, pride on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bernard d’Alessandri, President of SEA Index® and Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, stated: “Welcoming Port de Gustavia into the SEA Index® community is a landmark moment for our expansion into the Caribbean. This partnership reflects a shared vision: the future of yachting must be both visionary and accountable.”

The President of Saint Barthélemy Collectivity, Mr Xavier Ledee added: “By integrating the SEA Index® into our operations, we are setting a new benchmark for Caribbean ports and inviting our clientele to join a movement that values transparency, innovation, and marine preservation.”
