J/70 – Italian Cup – Lerici
The J/70 Italian Cup ended this weekend in Lerici in ideal conditions to cap off an outstanding season. The last three regattas of the year brought an intense season to a close after four events and 26 races.
The Monegasques again shone at this last stage with Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio and Matteo Marenghi Vaselli (G-Spot) pulling off a remarkable result to come 4th thanks to their consistency throughout the regatta. Stefano Roberti (Piccinina) came12th while Cesare Gabasio (TinnJ/70) was 20th.
Taking the J/70 Italian Cup 2024 season as a whole, the final overall rankings of the boats from Monaco are very encouraging given it attracted a total of 130 boats. Lorenzo Bortolotti (Black Swan) achieved a well-deserved 16th place followed by Louis Poons (Charisma V) in 22nd. Stefano Roberti (Piccinina) finished 25th and Cesare Gabasio 36th in the overall ranking and 27th in the Corinthian category. Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) came 37th and Pierrik Devic (Raph Seven Yachts) 69th. Lastly, Anatoli Karatchinski (Path) was 90th followed by Vladimir Prosikhin (Nika) 124th.
The 2024 season therefore ended on a positive note for the Monegasque teams who were competing with top international sailors in the J/70 class.
