Opération Les Voiles Blanches
For the 5th Les Voiles Blanches, the legendary White Pirate set sail 24 August 2024 on a three-week adventure with a very special purpose aboard the 9.15m monohull, YKA. For the aim of this trip with 18 ports of call is to collect new gifts, in their original packaging, to distribute to children in hospital under the care of the Lenval Foundation in Nice. After Antibes, Cassis, Porquerolles and Sainte-Maxime, it was Yacht Club de Monaco’s turn to welcome him on Monday 9th September 2024.
Bringing back smiles
The medical treatment these children have to undergo is essential, as is the psychological element that plays a key role in the healing process. Every step in these children’s recovery, from accepting sometimes very tough treatments, managing their fears before surgery or taking the drama out of hospitalisation, are crucial.
Through Les Voiles Blanches, the White Pirate wants to contribute to this approach by collecting as many new toys as possible to share among children who often have to spend long periods in hospital. He puts his skills as a sailor and desire to show solidarity to bring them a little happiness and comfort during difficult times. His initiative is clearly very successful as this edition collected over 1,000 toys.
