World Sailing Test Event in Fortaleza: a full-scale rehearsal

Held on the site set to host the 2027 World Sailing Championships, the Fortaleza Test Event aimed to assess sailing conditions, race management systems, and the organisation of the future championship as a whole. The races included men’s and women’s dinghy classes, bringing together sailors from several nations, with participation deliberately limited.

Two YCM sailors competed in the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets

In the ILCA 7 fleet, Jérémy Moutout finished fourth. This was part of a long-term preparation strategy, enabling valuable data to be collected on the 2027 World Championship race area. In the ILCA 6 fleet, Louise Debeaumont placed ninth in a women’s series characterised by a diverse range of competitors and sailing styles. For the Monegasque sailor, this event is an important step forward in her development on the international circuit.

It was a strategic milestone on the road to the 2027 World Championships

Beyond the rankings, the World Sailing Test Event in Fortaleza presented the Yacht Club of Monaco’s athletes with a valuable strategic opportunity. Testing the courses, adapting to local conditions, and competing against international rivals will help them to anticipate the demands of the global event, which is scheduled to take place from 22 to 30 January 2027.
