Following the Primo Cup–Trophée UBS held in Monaco, the Smeralda 888 fleet gathered in Alassio for the Luigi Carpaneda Challenge, the second stage of the 2026 circuit. Once again, the series delivered closely contested racing, where consistency, precision, and reliability made the difference within a particularly competitive fleet.
After seven races, with one discard, Charles de Bourbon of the Two Sicilies claimed victory at the helm of Vamos, flying the flag of the Yacht Club de Monaco. Delivering a strong and controlled performance throughout the weekend, he secured the win with 12 points, including three race victories. This result confirms his consistency at the start of the Smeralda 888 season.
Behind him, the battle for the podium remained tight until the end. Nicolò Saidelli, aboard Bloody Mathilde, finished second with 16 points. Alessandro Zampori, also racing under Monaco colours, completed the podium with 17 points on Das. This victory, combined with another Monaco podium finish, highlights the strong momentum of the Yacht Club de Monaco in this early part of the season.
The rest of the standings reflects the depth and competitiveness of the fleet in Alassio. Marco Favale, on Millenium Falcon, placed fourth with 26 points, ahead of Luigi Guarnaccia on Capocaccia (27 points) and Silvia De Longhi on Ziva (28 points). Germano Scarpa, aboard Giada, finished seventh with 34 points, while Liiv Harles, on Luigia, took eighth place with 37 points.
With this victory by Vamos at the Luigi Carpaneda Challenge in Alassio, the Yacht Club de Monaco confirms its position at the forefront of the Smeralda 888 circuit. After Monaco and Alassio, the season will continue from May 1 to 3 in Saint-Tropez with the Hippocampe Cup, the next key event for gentleman sailors.
