The first stage of the 2025 Cape 31 Med Series concluded this weekend in Hyères with nine races contested in varied often tough conditions. Competing in a tightly packed international fleet, Terrible Joy helmed by Loïc Pompée from Yacht Club de Monaco posted 7th overall with a strong performance that put them top of the Corinthian (amateur crew) categor.

A close regatta

Three days of competition tested crews to the full, the level was high and the fleet tightly packed with only a couple of minutes separating the first from the last. Terrible Joy, the crew of which was 70% young sailors, did themselves proud and were remarkably consistent with an excellent 2nd place in one race and always incisive confident starts.

Momentum maintained

The result continues a successful start to the season. Three weeks earlier, Terrible Joy did fantastically well in the 59th International Mediterranean Sailing Week (SNIM) in Marseille clinching 3rd in the IRC 2 despite being the smallest boat in the class.
After Hyères, the Cape 31 Med 2025 circuit continues in France, Italy and the Balearics before a big European event in the autumn.
