The first selection event for the French Championship concluded in Antibes during the 51st edition of the Ski Voile, held on 24 and 25 January 2026. The regatta was marked by contrasting conditions, with a demanding Saturday due to strong winds, followed by a lighter Sunday, requiring a high level of adaptability from the sailors. In this technical context, the YCM sailors delivered a solid performance, highlighting both individual progress and strong team cohesion.
In this article:
– the results of YCM sailors in ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7,
– key takeaways from this first national selection event,
– the collective dynamic of the Monaco team.

ILCA 4: a podium finish and a cohesive team for the Y.C.M.

In ILCA 4, Mark Slotboom delivered an excellent performance, finishing 3rd, just one point behind first place, at the end of a highly competitive championship. This consistency confirms his potential within a fleet of 32 competitors. Monegasque sailor Antoine Sauval finished 6th, followed by Giorgios Papavasileiou, a new YCM recruit, who placed 7th in his first selection event under the Club’s colours. This leading trio was completed by Ennio Rostagni, 14th, and Gabriel Lanteri, 15th, both contributing fully to the strong overall result of the Monaco team.

ILCA 7 and ILCA 6: valuable experience gained in demanding conditions

In ILCA 7, Gabriel Superina finished 4th out of 12, confirming his ability to compete at the front of a highly competitive fleet despite changing weather conditions.

In ILCA 6, the young Roman Lamper placed 22nd out of 35. Still in a learning phase in strong wind conditions, this experience represents an important step in his development and adaptation to high-level competition.

A first selection event full of lessons for Y.C.M. sailors

These YCM results reflect the quality of the work carried out within the Club, both on an individual and collective level. In a demanding regatta combining challenging conditions and a dense fleet, the Monaco sailors were able to gain valuable experience ahead of the upcoming national events.
