The 35th Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, organised by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo saw challenging conditions that produced a week of intense competition with some top-level duels between rivals.  In this prestigious context, Yacht Club de Monaco members pinned down some excellent performances.

Maxi 1 results

In the Maxi 1 category, the final duel lived up to expectations as YCM member Joost Schuijff steered his Leopard 3 to a superb 2nd place tied on points with the winner, but separated by the number of race wins, to take the Vice-Champion title; proof of just how competitive this class has become. Another stand-out result was the 5th place of Pier Luigi Loro Piana on My Song, testimony to the consistency of Monaco owners against an elite international fleet.

Victory in the Maxi Grand Prix World Championship

The week also saw YCM Member Giovanni Lombardi Stronati triumph in the Maxi Grand Prix on his Django 7X. Supported by the experienced tactician Vasco Vascotto, the crew were in total control of their roles to clinch the world title in this hotly disputed category.

Shared podium

Still in the Maxi Grand Prix, the battle for a podium finish went down to the wire with YCM member Peter Harrison nailing down a fine 2nd place on Jolt, confirming Monaco’s presence at the highest level of this discipline.
