Yacht Club de Monaco’s Optimist results at the CDV Optis 06 in Antibes confirm that the Sailing School in YCM’s Sports Section has the wind in its sails. Aged between 7 to 10 years old, the YCM sailors performed well against the regional competition to come 3rd out of all the clubs participating and stand on the podium.
In this article:
– YCM’s ranking at the Critérium CDV Optis 06,
– individual results for Monaco’s young sailors,
– the team spirit driving the Optimists in the Sailing School.
Yacht Club de Monaco was represented by Perre Kruijswijk and Alix Morin, members of the Optimist class in the Sailing School, and by Féline Kruijswijk from the youngest group in the SeaGarden. Perre was appointed team leader to support Féline for whom this was her first regatta experience. In a 37-strong fleet of contestants the young sailors from Monaco pulled off some solid performances, with 8th place for Perre, 10th for Alix and 13th for Féline, all very encouraging results that reflect the group’s individual and collective progress.
Finishing 3rd in the club rankings reflects the hard work put in by Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sailing School where learning how to race is all part of the goal to pass on expertise and teach the value of mutual support between young sailors. The team leaves Antibes motivated and committed with a keen desire to continue their adventure in competitive sailing throughout the season. And finally, a mention for young Loïs Godet from the YCM’s Sports Section, who was competing in the windsurfing category at the Critérium, his second official regatta.
