Outright victory for Mark Slotboom in ILCA 4

The stand-out performance of the weekend was Mark Slotboom’s whose series of clean, controlled races won him the ILCA 4 category. From the first races, he was with the lead pack, almost always in contention. After five races, he finished with 8 points in the overall standings confirming his consistency and ability to maintain his position throughout a regatta. In a 44-strong fleet of contestants, this win rewards his unwavering commitment to a regatta and skill at anticipating conditions on the water.

A team that delivers

Behind Mark Slotboom’s first place, the rest of the young ILCA group showed progress and some solid results. Gabriel Lanteri Gaglio clinched 10th place in ILCA 4, including a superb 3rd place in one race that kept him in the top 10. Not far behind in the ranking, Antoine Sauval came 17th and Ennio Rostagni 20th. The results reflect the Club’s consistent presence across the whole fleet.

Yacht Club de Monaco’s ILCA team on form at Les Sablettes also in ILCA 6

In ILCA 6, Louise Debeaumont delivered a strong performance with 5th place overall and 2nd place in the girls. Her results, that include winning the sixth race, show she is capable of competing at the front. Roman Lampert finished 12th. It was a less consistent regatta for him but he remained competitive in the fleet of 36 contestants.

First regattas in ILCA 4 for the next generation

The weekend also saw two young sailors from the sailing school make their debut at a regatta. Louis Pompée and Andrea Marinov were discovering the boat in a competitive environment. This being the first time, their rankings were to be expected with Louis Pompée finishing 27th and Andrea Marinov 35th in ILCA 4. What is more important is that the results provide a solid foundation to guide future training.

A momentum with upcoming events in its sights

Four sailors are already in contention for the French Championship. The next step is fast approaching with the finale of the Ligue Sud Cup in June when the final places will be allocated. The work continues on a roadmap of clearly signed objectives.
