The Yacht Club de Monaco hosted the first edition of the Yachting Student Fair on March 21, 2026 — a day dedicated to exploring careers in yachting and the maritime world.
Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to middle school students, high school students, university students, and their families, the event welcomed nearly 800 participants. The fair offered a hands-on introduction to careers that are still relatively unknown, combining passion, technical expertise, and international opportunities.
Throughout the day, visitors had the chance to meet training institutions, maritime organizations, yachting professionals, and researchers, all of whom presented their career paths and highlighted the wide range of opportunities within the sector. This inaugural edition also marked the launch of four days dedicated to yachting and exploration, organized in collaboration with The Explorers Club.
Among the speakers, naval architect and superyacht designer Espen Øino shared his experience and career journey with students, emphasizing the diversity of professions within the maritime industry. Meanwhile, Bernard d’Alessandri, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, highlighted the importance of raising awareness among younger generations about this dynamic and fast-growing sector.
Participants were also able to explore this world firsthand through visits to yachts moored in the YCM marina, including the sailing yacht 7Continent (31 m) and the research vessel R/V Plastic Odyssey, while engaging directly with passionate professionals—illustrating the richness and diversity of potential career paths in the industry.
