YCM reaches a milestone with two qualifiers in D1

In the Optimist class, YCM returned to D1. A significant step achieved in the final selection regattas, which means Pietro Carlevaris and Joséphine Dobbelaere have secured their places in the Minimes (older group) for the International Spring Cup.

YCM returns to D1 after several seasons

The Club has had to wait a few years for this moment. At the Intra-Regional Cup (28-29 March) out of a fleet of 80 contestants and after five races, Pietro Carlevaris finished 18th and Joséphine Dobbelaere 39th.

A tight-knit group making progress

Behind them, still in the Minimes category, the rest of the group continues to learn valuable lessons, with Jules Huon 46th, Louis Faivre 49th, Anastasiya Verpeka Dolling 65th and Floyd Gory 73rd. In the younger Benjamin category, Benjamin Verbourg came 12th ahead of Lois Bernaz 21st and Pierre Kruijswijk, 26th. The results confirm that this group is settling in and improving with every regatta.

YCM is bringing its sailors back to the highest national level in the Optimist class. The next big event is the International Spring Cup being held in Carantec 12-19 April. A different pace and intensity but a logical next step for these budding young sailors who are starting to find their sea legs.
