The 2025 Italian Olympic Class Championship concluded in Palermo on a windless day, forcing the Race Committee to cancel the last races. It was a frustrating end for the sailors as in some classes the gaps were minimal after three days of racing in a light unstable wind.
Despite a lack of action on the water, the international scale of the event will be remembered: 399 sailors from 20 nations, including Olympic medallists and several World Champions, gathered in Sicily for the Italian Sailing Federation calendar’s most prestigious event.

A top ten place underlines this young man’s ability to keep his head and remain consistent in a packed fleet, constantly under pressure with unstable winds and long waits in between races. As there was no last day that could have reshuffled the rankings in this group, his 10th place was just reward for a string of clean races and well-managed starts.
Here too, only five races were completed, with no Medal Race, in what was a short but challenging regatta, where even the smallest error could make a big difference.
While the Palermo venue served up three interesting days, weather conditions blocked any chance of a thermal wind getting established on the last day. Ashore, the N over A flags officially announced the end of the championship in the early afternoon.
